When people fall in love, they desire the ultimate connection, to merge with each other; in their great anger, they go to the same border of physical contact. In movies, the good guy and the bad one sooner or later end up in an intimate relationship with each other. The final scenes are usually very sensitive, despite (or because of) the violence.

The people in my paintings are troubled by both existential loneliness and, on the other hand, a constant dependence and inability to let go of other people.

For me, the figurative subject is a liberating starting point, with the help of it (or in spite of it) sooner or later I get to explore pictorial elements and the paint in themselves. The language of paint and the presented subject exist at the same time; the image can be seen in two, at least. Mistakes and corrections are essential, they make structure and time visible. Most of the works in this exhibition were completed during my residency in Basel when I drew a lot. The influence of drawing can also be seen in paintings.
